More Christmas Cards

Because I bought a couple of Debbi Moore CDs at Alexandra Palace, I was rooting about the website looking for ideas. I didn't find many ideas, but I did find a whole load of freebies, and I've put a couple to work in my attempt to get ahead with Christmas cards.

For this card, I took a paper, image and greeting from the freebie collection. I added some glitter to the image and matted with gold mirriboard. To finish I used a Marianne Creatables die set to cut and emboss the poinsettia.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
A Little Bit Crafty where anything goes,
Digi Galore where they want 'one for the girls',
Card Crafter's Circle where they want die cutting/ dry embossing,

Again, the image, sentiment and paper came from the Debbi Moore freebies section. I added glitter to the image and matted, then finished with some gold ribbon and a poinsettia made using a Marianne Creatables die set.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Card and Scrap where they want die cuts,
Marianne's Design Divas where they're 'going girly',
Pattie's Creations where they want us to 'make it sparkle',
ABC Christmas where they want 'girl or guy creations'.

Using the Spoils ...

This weekend was the BSSB show at Alexandra Palace. I went on Saturday - the first time I've gone to the spring show. I arrived at around ten, and was amazed to find that there was a queue snaking all the way around the Palm Court area! But, it didn't take too long, and I was soon in among the stalls.

I bought a few things (surprise, surprise!) I'd intended to look at dies, and I got a few of those. I also picked up a couple of Debbi Moore CDs and a few bits and pieces to put together for my sister. She's having a knee operation next month and will be fairly immobile for a while after that. It's the fifth operation she's had on that knee in the last few years, and she hates being stuck in the house. She's not a cardmaker, but I thought that this might be a good time to start! I picked up some die cut decoupage sheets, some paper, and some sticky things. I know she's got a very basic trimmer, but that's about it, so I had to keep things simple.

So, what've I been up to? Well first, I've been trying out my dies. I'm constantly drawn to the lacy filigree type of die, and they all seem to take some effort to cut properly. So, I've taken some time to work out how they go, and I've spent some time looking through the CDRoms.

This uses one of the dies - the large corner from the Spellbinders Gold Elements set. I've cut it in both navy and white card, and cut a plain triangle in both colours too. I've used some embossed blue metallic card, and some die cut decooupage I bought for myself which I mounted on some gold mirror board cut with one of my nesties.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Forever Friends where they want die cuts,
Challenges 4 Everyone where anything goes,
Card Crafter's Circle where they want die cuts.

And this one uses elements from one of the CDroms. It's Debbi Moore's Evergreen disc. I was surprised at how much her CDs have changed. I bought one many years ago, and it was mainly some public domain images. The newer CDs are much more limited in scope from my perspective. The Evergreen disc has just two main image in various colourschemes and on a variety of backgrounds. There are some gorgeous papers, though, and some decoupage and pirimage sets. I imported the various bits I wanted into Photoshop Elements and put the backing paper together as a single element - complete with the flowery 'ribbon'.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Mema's Crafts where anything goes.

I used a template from here to make a box, and covered it with paper from Docrafts. I decorated it with some Sizzix die cuts and sticky gems.

The image was printed in two sizes and coloured with Promarkers.

One Stitch at a Time Challenge 159

This week at One Stitch at a Time, we want you to create something bright!

Our sponsor this week is:

See the challenge blog for more details.

This week, I chose a set of papers and images from Reese's Scrap Pieces called Sweet Treats. There are digistamps, papers, and pre-coloured images. I chose to use one of the pre-coloured images and a paper to make a birthday card for a colleague who's known for baking.

I printed the image several times, then layered the cake, giving each layer a little shape. I added the sentiment in Photoshop Elements before printing. The die cut is from Spellbinders, and I used a Tonic Border punch. I finished with a little glitter on the cake, and some pretty lace.

I hope you can join us this week.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Card Mania where they want die cuts or punches,
Sparkle and Sprinkle where they want us to use a digital image,
Bearly Mine where anything goes,
