Well, I managed to colour another of those Michael Powell images, and made it into a card.
The image was coloured with Promarkers, and I kept to three shade types - the violets, yellow-greens and some neutrals for the stonework. I coloured with Promarkers.
I intended to make a five by seven card, but loved those vining flowers in the image, so I wanted to reproduce something similar as a border. But, when I tried it out, the card was too crowded, so I switched to a huge eight by eight!
The background paper is from the Papermania Persimmon collection. The next layer is some lining paper spritzed with various mica sprays in violet and blue colours. The paper itself was kindly given to me by J at A Crafty Habit after I admired some work she'd done using the paper. It definitely copes better with a water-based technique than the papers I've tried before! Although it's already lightly embossed, I wanted something more definite, so I put it through my Big Shot Pro with a Sizzix embossing folder.
The vine tendrils are die cut using a Marianne die, and I used my Promarkers to ensure that the colour matched the stamped image. The individual flowers were punched, coloured with Promarker, and then finished with a single seed bead.
I must say that I do love these images, although they're going to make fairly big cards unless I leave the image pretty much unembellished.
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Crafty Creations where they want us to use something new (new stamp),
Fresh Brewed where anything goes,
The Paper Shelter where they want lots of flowers,
Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge where anything goes,
Inky Chicks where anything goes,
Loves Rubber Stamps where they want die cuts or punches,
Dream Valley where anything goes,

One Stitch at a Time Challenge 63 - Bling It On!
This week at One Stitch at a Time, we want to see some bling! Gem stones, mica, glitter - you name it, we want to see it!
We're sponsored by One Stop Card Crafts who're offering a £10 voucher,.
And, Digis with Attitude who're offering three digis of the winner's choice.
This week, I got to work with someone who's new to the Stitchy Bear shop - Glitterbabe. I chose her 'Bluecap' image, even though I have no idea what a bluecap should look like. (I'm really not knowledgable about flowers at all!) But, going from the name, I decided on some blues!
I printed the image onto watercolour paper, then painted it with Twinkling H2Os. The background was white card, stamped with Versamark ink and clear embossed before being sprayed with Radiant Rain in matching shades. The flower is from Prima, similarly sprayed, and finished with a gemmed brad, and I added a couple of feathers to complete. The lace is from Hobbycraft, but because it's so transparent, I threaded some white ribbon through it to give more emphasis to the white.
I hope you can join us this week.
I had a comment last week about the fact that I'd specified how I'd fulfilled one of the challenge requirements, and I'm not sure if I offended or not. Please, don't be offended! I'm on a couple of DTs and I know it's sometimes hard to see if someone has fulfilled the requirements - especially if they don't describe how they made their project and if something could be done in several ways, or if the photograph is small. I'm just trying to save you from having to scour through the post to find out! If it's more irritating than helpful then I'll stop!
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Paper Pretties where they want flowers,
Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge where anything goes,
Truely Scrumptious where anything goes,
A Spoonful of Sugar where anything goes,
Clear it Out which wants us to use any colouring medium (Twinkling H2Os and Mica sprays)
Get Hippity with Ippity where they want a main image of flowers,
Bunny Zoe where they want us to use lace,
Kaboodle Doodles where they're playing 'Tic Tac Toe' or where I come from 'Exes and Ohs' and I've chosen the bottom row - digi, lace and flowers,
2 Sisters where they want us to use a digi,
Little Claire where they want sparkle (Twinkling H2Os and Mica Sprays).

I Blame Vixykins!
So, on Monday evening, I had a good play. I had ink on my fingers and everything!
It all started when I took out my Moonglow inks. First I painted a sheet of A4 card with the ink, and then I added some of my sparklies - some is Radiant Rain, some Cosmic Shimmer and some from Crafty Notions. I ended up with three different sheets of marbly shimmer, and then had to decide what to do with them.
I decided to stamp and emboss some butterflies on the card, trying to pick up the various tonings available. Then I had to come up with a background that would contrast with the marbled card and butterflies.
I took some cream card and some Hero Arts flourish stamps, and stamped with Versamark. Then I took out yet another sparkly in my collection - Perfect Pearls - and used a selection of colours to mirror the colours in the marbled card.
Then I either punched some flowers from the card or used something from my 'stash'.
This one used the Midnight Cosmic Shimmer and Irish Mist Radiant Rain on a base of Silhouette Silver. I'd also like to enter it for this month's Sir Stampalot Challenge
This one had a base coat of Vivacious Violet and then had Midnight Cosmic Shimmer and Persimmon Radiant Rain.
And finally, this one used a Burnt Umber ink base with Persimmon Radiant Rain and gold Crafty Notions spray.
I've matted the various layers with gold card and added some sticky gems and in the case of the third card, a stamped label.
So, there you are, Vix. I've given my Moonglow inks a good outing. I like the effect, although I don't see as much difference between the different colours as I'd hoped, but I've probably swamped a subtle effect with my additions.
Seriously, though. Thanks, Vix. It's lovely to try new things - even if my bank account isn't quite as convinced about it!
