The challenge this time at Crafty Cardmakers is to use something old and something new in your creation. That could be old and new stash, or old and new techinques - it's up to you. Do be sure to tell us what your old and new elements are!
I've used a variety of techniques here, including one of the 'oldest' in terms of my papercrafting, and something I've never used before in cardmaking. The old is rubber stamping. The stamp is from Papermania, and it somehow fell into my basket when I was buying some new dies in an end of year sale. I've coloured it with Spectrum Noir pencils. That's an 'in between' technique for me - I'm still more comfortable with Promarkers, but it's nice to have a couple of techniques for colouring because of the very different effects you can get. The paper is from Paper Pizazz. The new element is the crochet border. I've been trying to teach myself to crochet for years. My mother was very accomplished at crochet, but somehow, whenever she tried to show me how to do it, I just couldn't work it out. I turned to knitting instead, and she could never understand how I could do that but not crochet. I'm still pretty limited in my repertoire of crochet, but I found a simple border pattern online and used some of my stash of Perle cotton to make a border. (Before I got into papercrafts, I made cards using cross stitch and Hardanger embroidery, so I've got a lot of threads!) I finished the card with some little flowers in tones to match the ladies' dresses using dies from Cheery Lynn.
