Crafty Cardmakers Challenge 196

Our theme at Crafty Cardmakers is Autumn. My mind always goes to Autumn leaves, and this is what I came up with.

I stamped the tree using Clarity stamps and Memento ink. The background was sponged on using Pan Pastels with some cloud shapes used as templates cut using a Sizzix die. The result seemed rather misty to me, so the wording idea came from there. I think that's a CardCraft UK stamp, and I stamped it using Versafine ink as I wanted to make sure it would stamp clearly over the Pan Pastel. The matting is a wood-grained paper I've had just about forever. The background paper is from Papermania (again, very old) and the leaves were taken from my first (unsuccessful) attempt at an Autumn card and were cut using a Sheena Douglass die.

I hope you can join us with your Autumn creations!

International Art and Soul Challenge 17

The challenge at International Art and Soul this fortnight is to make something for a special occasion. The occasion can be whatever you want, so long as it's special!

I was asked by a friend to make a card for a ruby wedding anniversary, and this is what I came up with.

I've used a die set from Tonic and put the centre together using Photoshop Elements. The cherubs come from the very first CDRom I bought for cardmaking - the Crafty Image Emporium that I got from Crafty Computer Paper. It's the same image both times, but I flipped on to keep the arrangement looking symmetrical.

I hope you can join us this time.

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge 195

This fortnight's challenge at Crafty Cardmakers is to make something monochrome. It doesn't have to be a card, and the theme is up to you.

I made a Christmas card in various shades of green.

The stamps were designed by Sue Dix and made by Crafty Impressions. The ink is Memento in various shades of green - both for stamping and shading backgrounds. I used my Tim Holtz Stamp Platform to line up the tree and text. I completed the card with some matting, ribbon and a glittery bow.

I hope you can join us this time.

International Art and Soul Challenge 16

The challenge at International Art and Soul for this fortnight is to use lace and/or pearls. Anything you care to make, so long as it includes at least one of those two, is very welcome to enter.

I'm getting a rather slow start on my Christmas cards this year. But, I decided to give a new stamp a whirl and this is what I came up with.

The image and word are from a set of Sweet Dixie stamps which I bought earlier this year. This is the first time I've inked them, and while I love the image, I was a little disappointed to see that there's a flaw in it. I had to ink in a small band of the image by hand. Fortunately, that seems to have worked quite well, and while I'm disappointed, I'd had the stamp for too long to consider sending it back. I used Promarkers to colour the image.

Although you can't see it too well in the photograph, I embossed some white card using an Embossalicious mistletoe folder. I decided to forgo matting the image, just attaching white on white, but then completed the card by using some stick-on lace that I got in Tiger.

And that's that. I hope you can join us this time.
