This week at One Stitch at a Time, we're celebrating the summer holidays! We've got a seaside theme, chosen by Yvonne. She wants our seaside postcards showing both beach and sea!
I was lucky enough to use an image from our fabulous sponsors Digi Doodle Shop
I found this hard - not least because I don't often work on a rectangular 'canvas'. But, I've never seen a square postcard, so, I headed for my laptop and Photoshop Elements, and away I went! The background uses a standard PSE background of sand being lapped by a wave, and I sized it to postcard sized. The image was a little squarer than you see above, so I used the PSE clone tool to carry the horizon and beach line a little further. Once it was printed, I coloured the image with Promarkers. After matting as you see, I added a layered sea shell which I got from a CD from Crafty Computer Paper called Crafty Image Emporium. That's one thing I love about digital crafting - you can store all sorts of goodies without having to buy a bigger house. (Not that I don't need a bigger house too, but the need would be much more urgent if I didn't use so many digital options!)
I hope you can join us this time.
I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:
Craft Your Days Away where anything goes,
Moving Along with the Times where it's 'anything but square',
Ladybird Crafts where the theme is 'Summer Fun',
Digital Tuesday where the theme is 'Child's Play',
Crazy Amigos where they want shells,

This is fantastic, love those children playing in the sand, it matches so well the great background.

I really like the background image which is perfect for the theme. I also like to mix and match my images and techniques - this is lovely.
Isn't PSE clever...or should I say you are clever for being able to use it like this Josephine lol!! I amaze myself when I learn something new on it and give myself a big pat on the back when I do lol. I love how you've mixed the real life image with your coloured image. It's a perfect card for our Summer Fun Challenge at LCI...thanks so much for joining us this month xx
