Crafty Cardmakers Challenge 69

This week at Crafty Cardmakers, we want you to 'distress it'!

We are sponsored this time by

I was lucky enough to have an image from Digi Doodle Shop to work with this week, and chose her Roadster image.

Now, distressing is generally not my favourite technique. So, my distressing is generally pretty understated - no actual paper tearing or ruffling.

I coloured this lovely image with Promarkers, cut it with one of my nestibilities and edged it with ink - not Distress ink as I don't have any browns in that, but I used cocoa Versacolor. I cut  a piece of Coredinations Chocolate Box card using the same set of Nestibilities, and embossed it using a Sizzix folder before sanding to reveal the gears. The background paper is by JLJ Designs from a set called Pink and Chocolate which I got via Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps, but it's no longer available from there. I finished the card with some brads.

Hope you can join us this time.

One Stitch at a Time Challenge 115

This week at One Stitch at a Time, our challenge is to be red, white and blue! You can make that a patriotic theme is your country's colours permit, or you can do something completely different (which is what I chose to do).

Our sponsor this week is the amazing Joanna Sheen, who's offering a £10 token to her shop.
This week, I chose an image from Stitchy's vast collection, called Catch Me.
And yes, it's my first Christmas Card of the year! I framed the image and added the sentiment in Photoshop Elements, the printed it on Ryman Ink Jet card, and coloured the image using Promarkers. The paper is from my stash - a magazine freebie from several years ago! I decided I liked the fairly simple lay out - so I didn't add further embellishment.

Hope you can join us this week.

One Stitch at a Time Challenge 114

This week at One Stitch at a Time, it's anything goes! And the lucky winner of this challenge will win images and papers used by the DT, which are available at the Stitchy Bear shop.

This week, I worked with an image from Beary Dust called Arrianne. I decided to do something a little different, and so got busy in Photoshop Elements to put together the bits I needed for a gatefold card.

As you can see, I've used the image several times.

I added the image to a background in Photoshop Elements, and added some paper from Stitchy Bear herself (which I bought a while ago, and won't be included in the prize). It's from her Oriental Beauty collection. I reversed the image for a bit of variety, then printed the panels and coloured the image using Promarkers.
Showing a different angle
And showing the card open. I did the sentiments in Photoshop elements too, and added two inside panels, including one with an oval to write a message. I finished the card with a couple of jewelled bows from my stash.

Hope you can join us this week!

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge 68

This time at Crafty Cardmakers, the challenge is set by Mynette who wants to celebrate her birthday with a balloon bonanza!

We are sponsored this time by
and
$10 Gift Voucher
I decided to make a card for one of my husband's brothers. And the funny thing is that I bought the topper at least five years ago for that very purpose!

My husband has twin brothers, and their birthdays are in August. And, especially when the children were younger, towards the end of the summer term, things got very busy, and I often forgot about their birthday until the holidays had started, and we were away somewhere. This led to me scrabbling to find bits to make cards with minimal supplies. And one year, I bought a pack of transport toppers, but for some reason I can no longer remember, I didn't use them. However, one of them was just perfect for this challenge, so I set out to make a background for it.

I used Photoshop Elements to make the background, sticking to shades of grey. I traced the hill contours by hand, and added some tree and branch shapes in black, and cloud and a watery sun in white. I matted the background on some silver card, and finished it with a birthday greeting. I'll be making another like it, with a different topper for the set for the other brother, as I'm quite pleased with the result.

Hope you can join us this time.

One Stitch at a Time Challenge 113

This week at One Stitch at a Time, we're challenging you to use your favourite! Doesn't matter what it is, but your creations should include a favourite something.

Our sponsors this week are:
 and

Now, you might recognise the image I chose this week - it's by Barbara Jensen and it's used a lot on the Stitchy Bear  site.

Of course, it looks quite different with different colours ... So, what's my favourite? Well, you've got lots of favourites here - I love colours - the brighter the better - and the best way I know to get them is to use Promarkers so there's two favourites. Then, there's the die cut and punched border. I love the clean look of punches and die cuts. You definitely won't find me tearing paper or distressing the edges unless I'm forced to - it's just not my style.

So, apart from the image and Promarkers, the paper is a Kate Knight design from a Totally Tropical pad, the die is from Nellie Snellen (I think ...) one I've had for a year or so, and the punches are from Tonic.

I hope you can join us this week, and I'm looking forward to seeing your favourites.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Oldie but a Goodie where they want die cuts and punches.

Crafts and Me where they want die cuts and punches,

One Stitch at a Time Challenge 112

This week at One Stitch at a Time, we're challenging you to use a digi, and, if it's not already gone where you are, do something for Mother's Day.

This week, my team mate, Hazel chose an image for both of us. It's from Floppy Latte and it's called Butterflies and Flowers.

In the UK, Mother's Day is in March, and I don't have anyone to make a Mother's Day Card for any more, so I've just gone for something feminine that would work if it needed to!

I made up my mind to keep the colours in the image very pale, but struggled with that when it came to the butterflies! Still, it's a bit of a departure for me, and I've used some paper from Paper Cellar that I've had for ages. It's a pad of Victorian style paper that is absolutely gorgeous, but I've always struggled to use it because the colours are quite muted.

I coloured the image with Promarkers, and finished the card with some ribbon and lace, as well as some flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts, a local stationers and Hobbycraft!

This week, we're sponsored by Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps.
The winner, who has to use something from Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps in their creation, will win all the images and the papers used by the design team, and the runner up will win a $3 token for the shop.

Hope you can join us this week!
