One Stitch at a Time Challenge 189

This week at One Stitch at a Time, our challenge is 'Festivals'. Now, if you look on the challenge blog, then it'll say 'holidays' but I'm trying to avoid that word because it means something very different to me than what the challenge is really about. So, think of a festival ... Christmas, New Year, Guy Fawkes, Easter, even smaller festivals like Valentine's day or Hallowe'en, and make something for it.

The sponsor is
and you can win a range of images from various of the artists who sell through the shop.

I used an image from Cootsy Creations, and I made a Christmas card.

I coloured the image with Promarkers, but did the background using pastel colour applied with cotton buds. I've embossed the background using folders by Papermania and Sizzix, cut the image using a Spellbinder's die, and embellished with a Joanna Sheen Signature die.

I was going to use a Cuttlebug folder, but couldn't because those folders are just too small! They were the first on the market and as a result, I've got quite a few, but I rarely use them these days because they're such an odd size. They're too short for even an A6 card, and I rarely make anything that small. The small Sizzix folder I used is, at least, just big enough for 140mm which is the size I used here. The Papermania folder is 5 by 7 which is better, but these days, I'm only really buying square folders - so much better!

I hope you can join us this week.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

By Lori Designs where they want ribbons and bows,
Inky Impressions where they want dies and punches,
Whimsy where anything goes,
Papertake Weekly where anything goes,
Bearly Mine where anything goes,
Jo's Scrap Shack where they want things with wings,
Sister Act where anything goes,

The embossing looks good, Josephine, and it sets off the image perfectly. I know what you mean about those small folders, I've got quite a few and rarely even look at them now. Hazel x

I absolutely love your colouring and mounting of the cute Robin image Josephine - it would appear that you are a keen observer of our feathered friends. Your mount, with the lovely red ribbon threaded through looks just like a beautiful Christmas wreath and is gorgeous. The embossed white background is perfect and I love the holly in the upper corner, A very lovely Christmas card. Love Ingrid xxx

Very pretty and I love the ribbon going through the die cut. I can never seem to remember to do all the lovely tricks you girls try. Maybe I should start a book. :)
